In order to compete in the 2009 Summer National Games presented by Humana, athletes must meet the following requirements:
- Born before December 31, 1958
- Qualified at a State Senior Games Championship during 2008
The 2009 National Games are now open to all individual sport athletes (except golf) who participated and finished at a 2008 Qualifying Games. If you finished your event in 2008 and want to experience the National Games we have a place for you! The NSGA has also relaxed the partner replacement rule. You may now replace your partner if they cannot attend for any reason so long as your new partner played in that sport at any 2008 State Qualifying Games. Please contact nsga@nsga.com to request the change. In addition, the NSGA has relaxed the out-of-state player restrictions for team sports. You may now have the following number of out-of-state players on your roster: basketball-4; softball-7 and volleyball-6.
Participation in the seven demonstration sports (Equestrian, Fencing, Lawn Bowling, Rowing, Sailing, Soccer, Water Polo) is open to all athletes who are at least 50 years of age on August 1, 2009. There is no qualifying for the demonstration sports.
